What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the theory that there are points and reflexes on the feet which relate to all the organs and systems of the human body. By massaging particular areas of the feet it helps to alleviate symptoms of various health conditions and helps to restore balance to the entire body and is also known to promote better sleep.
As most of us have such busy lives nowadays, reflexology is a great way to relax and take time out for yourself.
Benefits of Reflexology
All treatments aim to aid relaxation, improve circulation, relax the nervous system and support your wellness, which in turn will balance the whole body and cleanse the body of toxins. Reflexology may also help with the following:
Anxiety when dealing with acute conditions or chronic illness
Stress and tension from physical or emotional imbalances
Headaches & migraine
Sleep disorders & insomnia
Digestive & IBS disorders
Circulatory & nervous system problems
Back/neck pain & sciatica
Toxin build up & lymphatic drainage (excellent for Long Covid recovery)
The unique benefit of Facial Reflexology (Bergman Method) is not only does it make you feel totally relaxed, it also makes you look great as well.
Facial Reflexology (Bergman Method) is built on the 10 point zone system which is the foundation of modern Reflexology. The method also integrates a combination of Native American techniques and Asian body maps.
As with foot reflexology, facial reflexology aims to help with various ailments such as, hayfever; headache/migraines; sinusitis; bells palsy and many other conditions.
Reflexology is a wonderful and beneficial complementary therapy to receive if you are trying to conceive or if you are pregnant.
If you are currently trying to conceive and feeling it's causing you stress, reflexology may be able to help you. In a typical session, I will go through a medical and lifestyle consultation form with you and then tailor a treatment specifically for you.
Reflexology is also a lovely treatment to receive throughout your maternity journey as it helps you stay relaxed and sleep better.
A previous study showed first-time mums who received 10 reflexology treatments prior to birth had average labour times of five to six hours. It was noted the group treated with reflexology needed far less pain relief during labour too. (G. Motha and J. McGrath – 1992 “The effects of reflexology on labour outcome”).
